Attah MikeIn Niger State, an Immigration officer named Isah Mohammed was killed by a mob amid a longstanding land dispute between the Doko and Kupafu communities.
Mohammed, who was from the Zhitsu Babi area of Doko, was attacked on his farmland in Lavun Local Government Area on Wednesday. The assault is believed to have been carried out by individuals from the rival community involved in the land conflict.
The land dispute, which has persisted for years, has yet to be resolved by either traditional leaders or law enforcement agencies.
According to Niger State Police Command Spokesman Wasiu Abiodun, Mohammed was rushed to Umaru Sanda General Hospital in Bida, where he was pronounced dead. “The victim was attacked and lost consciousness. Police operatives from Doko Div quickly arrived at the scene, but the assailants had already fled,” Abiodun reported.
