In the most recent FIFA Men’s World Rankings released today (February 15, 2024), Morocco emerges as the leading African men’s national football team, securing the 12th position globally. Following closely behind are Senegal, Nigeria, Egypt, and Cote d’Ivoire.
This update comes on the heels of the conclusion of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday, February 11, where Nigeria’s Super Eagles narrowly lost 2-1 to host nation Cote d’Ivoire in the final match.
Despite their defeat, Nigeria’s Super Eagles experienced a significant rise in the rankings, soaring 14 places from 42nd to 28th globally. They also ascended from sixth to third position in Africa.
FIFA awards points based on the outcomes of all recognized full international matches, and the rankings reflect these accumulated points.
