Nigeria’s junior female Yellow Greens have advanced to the Super Six stage of the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup in Malaysia, despite a loss to South Africa in their final Group C match on Wednesday.

The Nigerian team entered the game buoyed by a historic victory over New Zealand but fell short against a commanding South African side, losing by 41 runs.

The defeat, however, did not affect their progression, as Nigeria finished second in the group with three points, securing a place in the next round.

South Africa topped the group with six points after completing a perfect group-stage campaign, while New Zealand also qualified after defeating Samoa.

In the Super Six, Group 2, Nigeria is set to face England on Saturday, January 25, before taking on Ireland on Wednesday, January 29.

Both Super Six groups, Group 1 and Group 2, comprise six teams each, with the top two from each group advancing to the semi-finals.
