South Africa midfielder, Dean Furman has fancied their chances of beating Nigeria when they face each other in the quarter-final of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations on Wednesday.
It will be the rematch of Super Eagles vs Bafana Bafana, less than eight months after both teams played out a 1-1 draw in Johannesburg during the AFCON qualifiers.
Furman missed that game because of a shoulder injury, but featured in their 2-0 victory against Nigeria in June 2017.
“Tonight some of our forward play was outstanding and it was one goal, we could have scored two or three more so we are very, very happy with the victory and excited for the next round,” Furman said in the mixed zone after the Round of 16 clash with Egypt.
Asked on how he will prepare for the next game against Nigeria, the SuperSport United star said: “It is going to be tough, we had Nigeria in our qualification group, we beat them away and we drew with them at home.
“They are a top side, they have got many great players. We look forward to it, it is going to be a good encounter, we know them very well, they know us very well.
“We are excited to play Nigeria now.”
