The Nigerian Air Force reported that their airstrikes have resulted in the elimination of numerous terrorists situated on the outskirts of Lake Chad in Borno State.
Both Boko Haram and the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) were neutralized as the airstrikes targeted and obliterated their hideouts, structures, and strategic logistics base in the region, specifically on the fringes of Lake Chad in Borno State.
“Similar strikes were also undertaken at Tumbun Shitu after structures believed to be terrorists’ hideouts were observed tucked under thick foliage,” a Monday statement by NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, read.
“Additionally, three-gun trucks with terrorists were sighted moving into the location. The need to strike the location thus became imperative. The aftermath of the air strike revealed several terrorists were neutralised and the trucks destroyed.”
Gabkwet reported that operations were conducted at Tumbun Fulani and Tumbun Shitu between September 27 and September 30. This was in response to verified terrorist activities that posed a significant threat to military installations and law-abiding citizens residing in those areas.
He further stated that the terrorists were observed loading jerrycans into two concealed gun trucks under shrubs at Tumbun Fulani.
