Nigerian Air Force strikes kill scores of Boko Haram terrorists in Borno

Air strikes carried out by the Nigerian Air Force have resulted in the deaths of numerous Boko Haram terrorists in various locations within Borno State.

In a statement released on Monday, Air Force spokesperson Olusola Akinboyewa reported that Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions revealed increased terrorist activity in the area, including a surge in motorcycle movements and gatherings of combatants.

Akinboyewa stated, “Air strikes killed scores of Boko Haram terrorists at two significant locations in Bula Marwa, Borno State.”

He explained that Bula Marwa had been identified as a high-level meeting site for notorious Boko Haram figures. ISR missions confirmed the presence of an influx of motorcycles and large gatherings of combatants, prompting the deployment of fighter jets for an air interdiction mission.

Upon arrival, ISR footage captured suspected terrorists assembling at a rendezvous point on 12 motorcycles. These motorcycles were tracked to a primary meeting location where additional terrorists were gathered. Consequently, the first airstrike was carried out, effectively engaging the target area.

Shortly after, ISR aircraft in the vicinity observed several terrorists returning to assess the damage and evacuate their wounded comrades. In response, the Air Force conducted follow-up strikes, neutralizing more terrorists.

“These air operations dealt a significant blow to planned terrorist activities, eliminating multiple fighters and destroying their motorcycles, thereby crippling their capacity to launch ambushes or other attacks.”

The statement emphasized the ongoing contributions of the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai in the effort to eradicate terrorist activities in northeastern Nigeria. The Air Force reiterated its commitment to executing its mission with relentless precision, whether through joint or independent operations, to end terrorism and other threats to the nation’s sovereignty and security.
