Nigerian Army begins recruitment for 88th batch regular intake (How to apply)

The Nigerian Army has officially announced the opening of recruitment for its 88th batch of recruits. This initiative is aimed at young Nigerians who wish to serve their country through the army’s regular recruitment process.

The “Regular Recruit Intake” seeks to enlist both non-tradespeople (such as infantry soldiers) and tradespeople (individuals with specialized skills, like mechanics or electricians) to undergo training in the Nigerian Army.

Dates and Application Process

Interested candidates must complete their online registration by November 8, 2024. Shortlisted candidates will have their names published on the Nigerian Army website. Those selected will then proceed to their respective states of origin for screening, scheduled to take place between December 5 and December 19, 2024.

Candidates are required to print and complete the Guarantor Form, which must be signed and presented at the designated state recruitment centers during the screening process.

To be eligible for recruitment, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be Nigerian citizens by birth.
  • Possess a National Identity Card or NIN slip, along with a valid BVN.
  • Must be medically, physically, and psychologically fit according to Nigerian Army standards, and have no criminal record.
  • For non-tradespeople, candidates must be between 18 and 22 years old.
  • Tradespeople must be between 18 and 26 years old as of December 31, 2024.
  • Male candidates should be at least 1.68 meters tall, while female candidates must be at least 1.65 meters tall.

Joining the Nigerian Army offers numerous advantages, including:

  • Job Security: A stable career with opportunities for promotions and long-term employment.
  • Competitive Pay: Soldiers receive competitive salaries and allowances.
  • Educational Opportunities: The army supports further education and professional training, both locally and internationally.
  • Insurance Coverage: Soldiers and their families are provided with insurance schemes to protect their health and well-being.
  • Housing Opportunities: After serving for a specified period, soldiers can own homes in prime locations across Nigeria.
  • Pension and Gratuity: Retirees are entitled to pensions and gratuities, ensuring financial stability after service.
  • Representation: Recruits have the chance to represent Nigeria in peacekeeping missions and other assignments.

Important Information

  • There will be no zonal screening or special recruitment centers; all screenings will occur in candidates’ respective states of origin.
  • Candidates must bring original copies of their educational certificates and are not permitted to bring electronic devices to the recruitment venue.
  • Applicants with tattoos or body inscriptions will be disqualified, while swimming skills may offer an advantage during the selection process.
