Ikuforiji Olaitan Abdulrahman, a Nigerian singer better known by his stage name, Oxlade has sustained multiple injuries while participating in the ongoing #EndSARS protest in Surulere area of Lagos.

The singer was among several other protesters who hit the streets of Surulere on Monday to demand an end to police brutality in the country.

The protest, which started on a peaceful note, turned violent with demonstrators and security operatives engaging themselves in a heated exchange.

It was gathered that the singer was injured in the ensuing melee.
In several videos making the rounds on the social media, Oxlade was seen being assisted from the scene of the protest by other #EndSARS protesters.Ojah B, the singer’s manager, was also allegedly brutalised and consequently arrested during the protest.

Olamide, a Nigerian singer, took to his social media page to confirm the incident, adding that Banky W, a fellow singer, has already sent for his lawyers to take up the matter.

“I saw videos of people captured in ‘Lere (including Oxlade’s manager) and shared with Banky W. He’s sent lawyers down. I owe him my vote next election #EndPoliceBrutalityinNigeria,” he wrote.

At least two protesters were reportedly killed during the protest on Monday.

The Lagos police command had earlier dismissed claims that its men shot at protesters and later claimed that protesters shot three of its officials.

The development is coming a day after Mohammed Adamu, inspector-general of police (IGP), announced the disbandment of the special anti-robbery squad (SARS) following nationwide outrage.
