The federal government of Nigeria, on Tuesday organized a reception to welcome the arrival of the Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines.
IDOMA VOICE recalls that the vaccines arrived in the country on Tuesday afternoon.
The UN said the arrival marked a historic step towards the goal to ensure equitable distribution of COVID-19 vaccines globally, in what would be the largest vaccine procurement and supply operation in history.
It said the delivery was part of a first wave of arrivals in Nigeria that would continue in the coming days and weeks.
However, shortly after the items arrived, the federal government sponsored a reception to celebrate the feat.
IDOMA VOICE sighted a banner online, welcoming guests to the reception ceremony.
The inscription on the banner reads, “Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 welcomes u to the reception ceremony for the arrival of COVID-19 vaccines in Nigeria 2nd March 2, 2021.”
