The member representing Ibadan Northwest/Southwest at Federal House of Representatives, Adedeji Olajide, has revealed why he recently empowered his constituents with goats.
According to Adedeji who was heavily criticized on social media after he distributed the goats, it was “based on popular demand”, that he chose to empower his people with goats and cash gifts.
He opines that the widows aged between 55 and 60 years said they wanted the goats because it would make them financially stable since the she-goats are a special breed and can produce about three and four off-spring twice in a year.
He further explained that the empowerment program is in conjunction with the Department of Animal Husbandry Service, Federal Ministry of Agriculture, and Rural Development.
The Oyo state lawmaker says he has previously provided the residents with skills before gifting them goats and cash.
He said, “We carefully selected the participants have identified their area of interest and needs.
“It is also worthy to state that this project was facilitated based on requests, as I have always promised that any request from my constituents shall be given high consideration, and within my capability/capacity, it shall be done.”
