1. The Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME 2022, will commence across Nigeria today.
1st Batch, will commence by 7:00 am, 2nd Batch, will commence by 9:00 am, 3rd Batch, Will commence by 12:00 pm, while 4th Batch, Will commence by 3:00 pm.

2. The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has raked in the sum of N1.23 billion from the sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination forms to 17 Presidential aspirants.
As of Thursday, it was gathered that 17 Presidential aspirants had already paid N100 million each for the forms.

3. The President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Prof. George Obiozor, has criticized the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, over the sit-at-home order in the South-East.
Obiozor said the sit-at-home order was a slur to the region.

4. An Ekiti State High Court, Ado Ekiti Division, has sentenced a 42-year-old prince, Ademola Omoniyi, to death by hanging for killing the traditional ruler of his community.
Omoniyi was arraigned on one count of murder contrary to Section 316 and punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code, Cap. C16, Laws of Ekiti State of Nigeria, 2012.

5. The Academic Staff Union of Research Institutions has suspended its strike, which commenced last October over unresolved issues with the Federal Government.
The union disclosed this in a letter to the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, signed by its Secretary-General, Theophilus Ndubuaku.

6. The Federal Government through its Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission on Thursday officially released different documents indicating the approved power tariff increase payable by consumers to various electricity distribution companies in Nigeria.
In different orders to the 11 Discos operating in Nigeria, the commission stated that the tariff hike was based on the extraordinary review of the Multi-Year Tariff Order, as it explained that the order took effect from January 1, 2022.

6. The United Kingdom has barred the Indigenous People of Biafra, the Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra and other Biafran groups from participating in its asylum programme.
The British government noted that IPOB had been proscribed as a terrorist group by the Federal Government and that members of the group and its paramilitary wing – the Eastern Security Network – have reportedly committed human rights violations.
7. Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, on Thursday said there was no time he promised to endorse any aspirant including his former Chief of Staff, Terwase Orbunde, as his successor.
Ortom made the declaration during his meeting with stakeholders from Kwande, where his former Chief of Staff hails from.

8. A Federal High Court sitting in Awka on Thursday fixed the hearing of a suit seeking the sack of the senator representing Anambra North Senatorial District, Stella Oduah.
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Kingsley Nnalue, in Suit No FHC/AWK/CS/38/2022 had filed the case asking the court to sack Oduah who was elected on the platform of the PDP for defecting to the All Progressives Congress.
9. The Zenith Labour Party, on Thursday in Abuja, called on the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), to ensure the immediate resignation of some of his cabinet members and appointees aspiring to various electoral offices in next year’s elections.
The resolution was reached after its National Executive Committee meeting held at its Abuja national secretariat
10. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo visited Calabar, the Cross River State capital, on Thursday, to seek the support of delegates ahead of the presidential primary of the All Progressives Congress.

Speaking at an meeting with traditional rulers in the state, he solicited their support to actualise his presidential ambition.
