1. The federal government of Nigeria under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari has been dragged to court for blocking Nigerians yet to link their National Identification Number (NIN) to their Subscriber Identity Module (SIM).
In suit number FHC/L/CS/711/2022 filed at the Federal High Court in Lagos, SERAP said the government order was inconsistent with the requirements of legality.
2. The Senator Representing lmo West Senatorial District, Senator Rochas Okorocha, on Sunday called on the Minister of State for Petroleum, to set up a judicial panel of inquiry to unravel the remote and immediate causes of the Abaezi incident, with a view to averting future occurrence.
Okorocha, who lamented the reported killing of more than 100 people by an explosion at an illegal oil refinery in a forest at Abaezi, in Ohaji-Egbema Local Government Area, described the incident as worrisome and disheartening.
3. The immediate past President of the Senate, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has described the northern elders’ decision to pick him and Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) consensus Presidential aspirants in the north as a welcome development.
Saraki, in a short message on Sunday by his media adviser, Yusuph Olaniyonu, said the process of arriving at the Northern PDP consensus aspirants was pain-staking, thorough and transparent.
4. Human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, has said the government of President Muhammadu Buhari deceived Nigerians with his resolve to wage war against corruption at the inception of the administration, saying events in recent times have exposed the deceit of the government.
The lawyer, who was reacting to the last week’s state pardon extended to former governors of Plateau State, Joshua Dariye; and Taraba State, Jolly Nyame; who were jailed for stealing their various state funds, noted that the action of the government has further legitimised corruption and mismanagement of public funds in the country.
5. The governor of Rivers State, Mr Nyesom Wike, who is a presidential aspirant under the platform of the main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, at the weekend tasked stakeholders and founding fathers of the party to give the presidential ticket to someone who will not run away from the party.
The Presidential aspirant equally vowed to put David Umahi’s successor in Ebonyi State during the forthcoming 2023 general election.

8. A former governor of Plateau State, Joshua Dariye, may recover his N500m mansion in Asokoro, Federal Capital Territory, from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission following his pardon by the regime of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), Sunday PUNCH has learnt.
Dariye, who was convicted for stealing N1.16bn while he was governor between 1999 and 2007, was pardoned by Buhari on April 14, 2022 following the recommendation of the National Council of State.
9. The installation of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, as the Aare Baasofin of Yorubaland (the Supreme Lawmaker of Yorubaland) has been suspended.
This was announced in a statement by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Speaker, Lanre Lasisi, on Sunday.
10. A former aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, on Sunday, predicted the outcome of the 2023 presidential election and the chances of both ruling All Progressives Congress and Peoples Democratic Party ahead of the exercise.
