Nigerian singer Dr Sid moves to the United States

During a recent appearance on the “No Man’s Friend” podcast, the “Over The Moon” artist revealed that he moved to the U.S. after securing a job there.

“I now live in the U.S. I left Nigeria last year after I got a job with a company in New York that allowed me to relocate anywhere in the States. I have family in Houston, and my best friend lives here, so Houston, Texas, was an easy choice. I’ve been working here for the past year and a half,” he shared.

Dr Sid first rose to fame in 2002 when he joined Da Trybe, featuring on the hit song “Oya” alongside Sasha, 2-Shotz, Timi, DEL, and the Trybesmen (Eldee, Kb, and Freestyle). In 2003, he released his debut solo single, “Don’t Stop,” before taking a break to complete his university education, qualifying as a dentist.

Afterward, he moved to the UK, collaborating with artists such as JJC & the 419 Squad, Felix Duke, KAS, R70, D’Prince, and D’Banj. In 2005, he began work on an album titled Prognosis, which featured the track “Raise Da Roof” but ultimately abandoned the project.

In 2007, after three years of dental practice, Dr Sid left the profession to fully pursue music, signing with Don Jazzy’s Mo’ Hits Records. His debut solo album, Turning Point, was released in April 2010 and included popular tracks like “Over The Moon” and “Pop Something.”

Following the split between Mo’ Hits Records co-founders D’Banj and Don Jazzy in 2012, Dr Sid joined Mavin Records, where he released his second album, Siduction, in December 2013.

Dr Sid also ventured into acting, making his debut in the 2014 movie The Last 3 Digits, directed by Moses Inwang, where he played an NYSC corps member and a friend to Nonso Diobi’s character.
