Nigerian striker, Jerome Akor joins League 1 club Montpellier

Nigerian forward, Jerome Akor, is on the verge of completing his move to Ligue 1 side, Montpellier, in what is expected to be a significant career step for the young talent.

Reports indicate that a transfer fee of €4 million has been agreed upon between Akor’s current club, Lillestrom, and Montpellier, paving the way for the 23-year-old to make the switch to the French top-flight.

Montpellier’s interest in Akor comes as a response to Stephy Mavdidi’s departure to Leicester City, creating an opportunity for the Nigerian striker to make his mark in a new league.

Having showcased his prowess on the field, Akor stands as the leading scorer in Norway this season, boasting an impressive tally of 15 goals and three assists from just 15 games.

The young talent made his mark in Norway after joining Lillestrom from Sogndal last year, leaving a significant impact with 23 goals in 37 league appearances for the Canaries.

With the deal set to be finalized this week, all eyes will be on Akor as he embarks on this exciting new chapter in his football journey.
