Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, in collaboration with Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke, have successfully dislodged several bandits operating in parts of Taraba and Benue states.
The coordinated clearance operation, codenamed Operation Golden Peace, was conducted on Friday in Akahagu and China villages of Ukum Local Government Area in Benue State.
Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade, disclosed this over the weekend, commending the troops for their bravery and resilience during the mission.
The operation extended to Ikayor village, where troops engaged bandits associated with the notorious criminal, Akiki Utiv, also known as ‘Full Fire.’ The military forced the bandits to flee after deploying overwhelming firepower.
During the operation, the troops recovered a red Toyota Corolla vehicle, a motorcycle, military camouflage trousers, and a Beretta pistol.
In a statement, the military assured residents of Taraba and Benue states of their unwavering commitment to restoring peace and security in the region.
