The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), on Tuesday appealed to the Federal Government to expedite action on the signing of Nigeria Peace Corps bill recently passed by the National Assembly.

Mr Murtala Muhammed, National President of the council, made the appeal while addressing youth in Jalingo.
Muhammed said that signing the Peace Corps bill into law would engage hundreds of youth meaningfully in service of the nation.

He led the youth into a five minute prayer session for quick recovery of President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to him, Buhari’s administration meant well for the youth of the country and should be supported by all and sundry to succeed.

He commended the Federal Government for various youth empowerment programmes such as N-Power, Yes P among others.

He also challenged Taraba youth to find solution to the nation’s problems with the support of the government.

“I urge you to develop yourselves and become people that will solve problems and those of the nation instead of waiting on government.

He told the youth to promote ethnic and religious harmony to enhance the unity of the country.

Mr Kalu David, a member of the Board of Directors of the council, urged the youth to develop themselves as future leaders of the country and shun crime and violence.
