A Priest with the Catholic Church, Reverend Father Joseph Pilla has stated that Nigerians in the diaspora are proud of Governor Samuel Ortom’s stand on national issues.
Fr Pilla stated this today in a homily at St Mary’s Catholic Church North Bank during a thanksgiving mass in honour Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Don Awunah and General Raymond Utsaha.
Rev Fr Joseph Pilla who is the President, All Nigerian Priests, Religious and Seminarians, Rome- Italy, noted that for Benue people in the diaspora, the mention of Governor Ortom commands honour and respect as he is considered as a lone voice against injustice and insecurity.
He stated that when one is celebrated, it is a call for him or her to lift and support others so they would also be celebrated someday, saying those honoured should consider it a duty to lift others to greater heights.
Governor Samuel Ortom in a remark, prayed that the honourees progress to the peak of their career so they would one day assist others to grow.
He tasked the people of Masev, Ihyarev and Nongov Development Association, MINDA on unity of purpose and the need to celebrate their own the way they did to AIG Awunah and Breg. General Utsaha.
Speaking on behalf of the honourees, Justice APB Utsaha who spoke for his son, Breg. General Utsaha, described Governor Ortom as a pace setter, saying he sets the pace for others to follow.
Chairman Central Planning Committee, Dr Tivlumun Nyitse on his part, thanked the Governor for his support for a successful event, even as he expressed hope that the thanksgiving translates to more blessings for the honourees.
