Nigerians react as underage children vote in Kano LGA election

Photo of underage children casting ballots at the ongoing Kano state LGA election has stirred reactions online.

Some Nigerians blame the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), for aiding and abetting mass election malpractices in the north thereby making it a norm.

One online user asserted that underage voting is obviously the reason the north tend to get more votes than other region and not population as generally believe.

“Just imagine how old this children are.then one person will come and tell me that the northern area is more populated than any other areas in Nigeria why won’t it be’when dogs and cat are allowed to vote,” the user @JohnLikkle tweeted.

Another user @Ata also accused the north of using underage children to rig elections.

“Exactly how they rigged election in the north.. Rigging election with under age voters,” he tweeted.

One online user @Malvin said politicians will use the children to vote during election and later abandoned them to beg after election.

“Use them for election day and when you win you abandon them in the street to beg for what to eat,” he tweeted.

Another user @Bomaboyle declared that the south should consider registering children for the next election too.

“2023 we too should carry all our Children register for PVC and Vote, until then this will continue,” he tweeted.
