Nigeria’s Ambassador to Morocco, Alhaji Mansur Nuhu Bamalli, has passed away. He also held the title of Magajin Garin Zazzau and was the biological younger brother of the Emir of Zazzau.
According to a statement from the Media and Publicity officer of the Zazzau emirate council, Mansur Nuhu Bamalli died while in transit to Morocco at a private hospital in Lagos. The statement noted that details regarding funeral arrangements would be announced at a later time.
Ambassador Mansur Nuhu Bamalli is survived by a wife and two children. He was appointed to the position by former President Muhammadu Buhari a year ago.
The appointment, which was made in recognition of his many years of dedicated service in the Nigerian Foreign Service, was conveyed in a letter dated October 7, signed by the then Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama.
“You shall be invited in due course for the ceremony of investiture. Please, accept my warm felicitations and those of the Honourable Minister of State, the Permanent Secretary and the entire staff of the Ministry,” the letter read.
Prior to his ambassadorial role, he held the position of deputy director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Nigerian Foreign Affairs Ministry had issued a recall notice for Nigerian ambassadors, both career and non-career diplomats stationed in 300 foreign missions worldwide.
However, the return of these diplomats to Nigeria has been delayed due to logistical issues, including the need for Authority to Incur Expenditures (AIEs) for their return passages and other travel arrangements.
