Nigeria’s D’Tigers witness sharp decline in latest FIBA rankings

Nigeria’s D’Tigers have experienced a notable decline, dropping by 18 positions in the most recent rankings published by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA).

As of now, the country’s men’s basketball team holds the 37th spot in the rankings. Following this slump, D’Tigers have slipped to the fifth position in Africa.

This decline is attributed to their disappointing performance in the 2024 Olympic Games qualifiers held in Lagos.

At present, South Sudan leads the African rankings, followed by Ivory Coast, Angola, and Tunisia. The top 10 teams in Africa also include Egypt, Cape Verde, Senegal, Cameroon, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
