Phrank Shaibu, a former aide to the 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has taken a sharp jab at President Bola Tinubu following the escape of a detained Binance executive.
The incident involves Nadeem Anjarwalla, Binance’s Africa regional manager, and his colleague Tigran Gambaryan, who were initially detained upon their arrival in Nigeria on February 26, 2024, on allegations of tax evasion and other charges.
After Binance failed to comply with a court order demanding data on Nigerian traders, the detention of the two executives was extended to prevent any tampering with evidence.
However, Anjarwalla managed to escape on Friday, March 22, from a guest house in Abuja where they were being held. The escape reportedly occurred when guards allowed him to visit a nearby mosque for Ramadan prayers.
Anjarwalla, a dual British-Kenyan citizen, is said to have left Abuja aboard a Middle Eastern airline, raising questions about his departure despite Nigerian authorities holding his British passport.
In response to this escapade, Phrank Shaibu took to social media to mock the situation, likening it to a spectacle of escapades under the administration.
In a post on X, Shaibu sarcastically remarked, “Another riveting episode of ‘Nigeria’s Got Escapes,’ brought to you by the @officialABAT administration! Detained Binance executive pulls off a vanishing act right under their noses?”
He continued his satire, applauding the administration for turning detention centers into what he called “amateur magician training grounds.” Shaibu quipped about the lack of security when there could be a thrilling escape room experience for detained executives.
Shaibu then teased about potential sequels, saying, “Stay tuned for the next episode: ‘Escape from Nigeria: The Sequel’ or ‘Nigeria’s Got Talent: The Fugitive Edition.’”
