NiMet forecasts 3-day hazy weather with chances of rain from Saturday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted hazy weather conditions across Nigeria from Saturday to Monday.

On Saturday, moderate dust haze with a horizontal visibility range of 2 km to 5 km is expected over Sokoto, Katsina, Kebbi, Kano, Jigawa, Zamfara, Kaduna, Niger, and Kogi states.

The rest of the North, the North Central region, and inland cities in the South are expected to experience slight dust haze with good visibility. Coastal areas in the South may see a hazy atmosphere with patches of clouds and possible afternoon or evening rains in Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Lagos states.

On Sunday, moderate dust haze with visibility of 2 km to 5 km is forecast for Sokoto, Katsina, Kebbi, Kano, Jigawa, Zamfara, and Kaduna states. The rest of the North, North Central, and inland areas of the South are expected to have slight dust haze with good visibility, while the coastal South may experience early morning mist or fog, followed by a hazy atmosphere with some cloud patches.

By Monday, moderate dust haze with 2 km to 5 km visibility is expected across the North and North Central regions. Inland areas of the South will likely have slight dust haze with good visibility, while coastal cities may experience early morning mist or fog and a hazy atmosphere with patches of clouds.

NiMet advised the public to take necessary precautions due to dust particles in the air and urged airline operators to obtain airport-specific weather reports for proper flight planning.
