The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecast hazy weather conditions across the country from Wednesday to Friday.
In its weather outlook issued on Tuesday in Abuja, NiMet predicted moderate dust haze, with horizontal visibility ranging from 2km to 5km throughout the forecast period.
The North Central region is expected to experience similar moderate dust haze with reduced visibility.
In the South, inland cities will see cloud patches in hazy conditions throughout the period, while coastal cities will experience early morning mist or fog. Later in the day, hazy conditions with cloud patches are expected along the coast.
The northern region is forecast to experience slight dust haze with improved visibility, while moderate dust haze is expected on Friday, with visibility ranging between 2km and 5km. However, localised visibility of less than 1km is anticipated in parts of Zamfara, Katsina, Kano, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Kaduna states.
The North Central region will experience slight dust haze and good visibility, with cloud patches in the hazy atmosphere of inland Southern cities.
NiMet has advised the public to take necessary precautions due to the suspended dust particles in the air. People with respiratory conditions, like asthma, are urged to exercise caution during these weather conditions.
The agency also recommended that airline operators consult NiMet for airport-specific weather updates to ensure safe flight operations.
