A fatal road accident along the Malumfashi-Kafur Road in Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State claimed the lives of nine people, leaving 11 others injured on Sunday.

The Katsina State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Aliyu Ma’aji, confirmed the incident, stating that the victims were passengers in a Hummer Bus carrying 20 people from Lagos to Katsina.

According to Ma’aji, preliminary investigations indicated that excessive speeding led to the driver losing control, resulting in the crash.

Following the accident, 11 injured passengers were taken to the hospital. Providing an update later, the FRSC Command Public Relations Officer, Shamsudeen Babajo, revealed that three victims were referred to an orthopaedic hospital for further treatment, while seven others were discharged.

This tragic incident underscores the dangers of speeding and the need for stricter road safety measures.
