Nnamdi Kanu’s Special Counsel, Aloy Ejimakor collapses in Kuje Prison
The Special Counsel to the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, Aloy Ejimakor, reportedly collapsed on Friday while in custody at the Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja.
Following the incident, Ejimakor was immediately rushed to the Kuje Medical Centre, where he is currently receiving treatment.
Confirming the development to DAILY POST on Saturday, one of Kanu’s lawyers, Barrister Maxwell Opara, said he personally visited the ailing lawyer at the prison clinic.
Opara said:
“Yes, I went to see him and he was admitted at the Kuje Medical Centre where they are treating him. I left there just a few hours ago.
The incident happened before I arrived, but when I got there around 12 noon, I started hearing the news.
As one of his lawyers and colleagues, I insisted on seeing him. I also saw Sowore and others before they took me in to see him.”
Ejimakor’s collapse comes barely 24 hours after the presiding judge of the Kuje Magistrate Court, Abubakar Umar Sa’id, refused to sign his bail bond for release.
The Special Counsel was arrested on Monday alongside 12 others, including Prince Emmanuel Kanu, the younger brother of Nnamdi Kanu, during a protest in Abuja demanding Kanu’s release.
The group was subsequently arraigned before the Kuje Magistrate Court by the Nigeria Police Force.
