The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has announced a planned maintenance shutdown of the Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC), set to begin on May 24, 2025.

In a statement released on Saturday, NNPC’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Femi Soneye, said the shutdown is part of a scheduled maintenance and sustainability assessment designed to ensure the refinery’s optimal performance.

Soneye added that the company will provide regular updates on the progress of the maintenance through official channels.

“The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) wishes to inform the general public that the Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC) will undergo a planned maintenance shutdown starting May 24, 2025,” the statement read.

“We are working closely with relevant stakeholders, including the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), to carry out the maintenance and assessment activities efficiently and transparently.

“NNPC Ltd remains committed to delivering sustainable energy security,” it added.

The maintenance is expected to support the refinery’s continued operations and improve its contribution to Nigeria’s energy supply.
