Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a stark warning, declaring every Hamas member a target. The address was part of a press conference by the newly formed emergency government charged with prosecuting the war against Hamas, as reported by the Jerusalem Post.
The emergency government, consisting of Defense Minister Yoav Gallant from the Likud Party and former defense minister Benny Gantz, who leads the National Unity Party, emphasized their commitment to eradicate Hamas. As the conflict entered its sixth day, they pledged to eliminate the group entirely.
“We are fighting with full force on all fronts. We have gone on the offensive. Every Hamas member is a target,” Netanyahu stated, equating Hamas to the Islamic State (ISIS). He recounted the horrific invasion by Palestinian militants into Southern Israel, likening their actions to those of ISIS, involving the burning of victims, rape, and shooting of infants.
This devastating attack, described as one of the deadliest in decades, led to retaliatory airstrikes on Palestinian settlements in Gaza by the Israeli forces. The Israeli government declared war, launching Operation Swords of Iron with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
“We witnessed unspeakable atrocities—bound children shot in the head, people burned alive, and young individuals subjected to unspeakable acts,” Netanyahu added, emphasizing their determination to eliminate Hamas as the world tackled ISIS.
Defense Minister Gallant echoed Netanyahu’s sentiments, pledging the obliteration of Hamas, referring to them as the “Islamic State of Gaza.” He condemned the terror attack on Southern Israel, labeling it the worst the world had ever witnessed.
Meanwhile, Al Jazeera provided updates on the conflict, reporting a rising death toll in Gaza, with 1,200 casualties and approximately 5,600 individuals sustaining injuries. In Israel, the death toll also climbed to 1,200. The United Nations (UN) reported a staggering 338,934 Palestinians displaced in Gaza due to the relentless Israeli bombing.
