No political party will exist in 2027 – Akpabio
Senate President Godswill Akpabio has declared that by the 2027 general election, political parties will no longer be relevant in Akwa Ibom State, claiming widespread support across party lines for his senatorial ambition.
Speaking on Friday at his midterm empowerment briefing held at the Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium, Akpabio said that all existing political structures have collapsed in favour of his re-election to represent the Ikot Ekpene (Akwa Ibom North-West) Senatorial District.
“As I speak with you, there is nothing like political parties in Akwa Ibom State ahead of 2027. For the Senate seat in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, all parties have united to support Senator Godswill Akpabio,” he said.
Taking a swipe at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Akpabio claimed the party’s symbolic umbrella has been “torn to shreds” and can no longer offer protection or direction to the people.
He also commended the state governor, Umo Eno, describing him as a man of peace and a genuine servant of God.
“There are people who profess God with their lips, but Governor Umo Eno has God in his heart,” Akpabio added.
