The Akwa Ibom State police command has reported a major success in its fight against crime, as the Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) unit successfully neutralized Sunday Wisdom, a notorious armed robber and serial killer. Wisdom was a wanted criminal responsible for multiple robberies and murders in various areas of the state, and he was a member of a dangerous armed robbery gang led by the late Malachi Uwem Friday.
According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Odiko Macdon, during the attempted arrest, Wisdom opened fire on the police officers, but they managed to overpower him. The operation resulted in the recovery of significant evidence, including a locally reconstructed pump-action gun resembling an AK-47, cartridges, a Q-link motorcycle, assorted charms, and a mask.
The statement from the police command revealed that Sunday Wisdom was one of the most deadly armed robbers on their wanted list, responsible for the deaths of approximately thirteen (13) people and injuring about twenty-two (22) others. His criminal activities spread fear among innocent residents of areas such as Ikot Ambang, Ikot Efun, Ikot Inuan, Itak, Ikot Osukpong, Okobo Ibiono, and parts of Uyo LGA.
State Commissioner of Police, CP Olatoye Durosinmi, expressed his gratitude to the people of Akwa Ibom for providing valuable intelligence that contributed to the operation’s success. He also commended the bravery and efforts of the SWAT and F-Division Ikot Ambang officers. In a stern warning to criminal elements in the state, CP Durosinmi urged them to leave immediately or face the consequences of their actions.
