The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has imposed a N2 million fine on Kano Pillars for the improper conduct of their players and officials during their matchday nine game against Nasarawa United.

The club was also penalized for a statement issued by their Media & Communications Directorate quoting player Ahmed Musa, in which he made critical remarks about match officials.

Kano Pillars were cited for not maintaining team discipline, which led to unruly behaviour by Ugochukwu Gabriel during the match.

The NPFL has further suspended Gabriel for nine matches, beginning from the matchday 10 fixture, as a consequence of his conduct.

Kano Pillars received a formal warning regarding the publication of inflammatory statements in the future, advising the club to use official channels for complaints. The NPFL stated that repeat offenses would result in harsher penalties.

The former NPFL champions have 48 hours from the issuance of the notice to file an appeal against the sanctions.
