Abubakar Bala has been appointed as the new head coach of Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side, Sunshine Stars.
Bala takes over the role at the Akure-based club following the resignation of Kennedy Boboye last month. Boboye stepped down, citing interference from the club’s management as the reason for his departure.
Since Boboye’s exit, assistant coach Bobola Akinfolarin has been in temporary charge of the team.
Bala, who previously managed Nigeria National League (NNL) club Doma United, has also had coaching stints with Niger Tornadoes, Kwara United, and Lobi Stars.
Sunshine Stars are set to face Enyimba in a rescheduled matchday 13 fixture on Wednesday. The Owena Waves are currently struggling near the relegation zone.
