The Lobi Stars of Makurdi, on Sunday defeated the visiting Dakkada Football Club of Uyo, at the Aper Aku Stadium in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.
The first goal of match was scored by the captain of Lobi Stars, Mathias Samuel in the 15th minute and Christian Ekong pulled one back in the 71st minute of the game to level up. The winning goal came through penalty by Austin Ogunye in the 92+1 of the game, giving Lobi the well deserved victory and three points.
Speaking shortly after the match, the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Benue State, Comr Ojotu Ojema assured Lobi Stars Football Club of more victories under his tenure.
According to him, this is achievable because Governor Ortom has provided enabling environment for sporting activities to thrive, hence the need to do everything humanly possible to complement the efforts of the governor to enable the club succeed in all their games.
Among those who also watched the explosive match include; the Special Adviser to the Governor, Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barr Ken Achabo Atam, SUBEB Chairman, Joseph Utser, Security Expert, Terrence Kuanum and other top government functionaries.
