In a disturbing incident, gunmen abducted a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Maryjane Onoriode, who was deployed to Osun State. The abduction occurred in Eku, Ethiope East Local Council of Delta State.
Reportedly, Maryjane had left her boyfriend’s house in Jesse, Ethiope West Local Council, around 4:20 p.m. when she was abducted on her way home.
The kidnappers have demanded a ransom of N5 million for her safe release. The circumstances surrounding her exact route at the time of the abduction remain unclear.
A concerned source stated, “We don’t know the particular road she took. We only have two alternative roads to Eku when you are coming from Oghara, one is Amokpe-Agholokpe-Okpara waterside road, and the other is Sapele-Warri road. We find ourselves in a situation that demands our immediate attention because her life is in grave danger.”
Unfortunately, the family is unable to meet the kidnappers’ ransom demand, adding to the urgency of the situation.
Bright Edafe, the spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, confirmed the incident and assured that the police are actively involved in the case.
