A member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) identified as Grace Chalya Silas lost her life at the hands of as-yet-unidentified assailants suspected to be armed robbers in Kaduna State.
Details surrounding the incident remain unclear at the time of this report. However, it has been gathered that Grace, a University of Jos graduate, was brutally killed and robbed while out for a morning jog on Wednesday, October 18, 2023.
The news of her untimely demise has left her friends and former coursemates in deep mourning. Many of them have taken to Facebook to express their grief and condolences.
One mourner, Comfort Elisha, wrote, “No, this can’t be. What is happening to our fellow Jossites and the Special Education department? We haven’t even finished mourning Kekefas Emmanuel, and now it’s Chalya, brutally taken from us in Kaduna during her morning jog while she was serving her fatherland. May those responsible for this act find no peace. This is too much to bear.”
Another friend expressed the deep sense of loss, saying, “What is the meaning of life? To struggle and be cut down by anyone while you’re out for a morning jog? Or to sleep and never wake up? What is life? What is life? What is life? Chalya, you’ve left a profound wound that will take time to heal. Those responsible for your untimely passing shall find no peace. It’s heartbreaking to bid you farewell, but may you rest in peace with the Lord.”
