Video: Suspected thugs attack Obi, Kwankwaso supporters during rally in warri

A campaign rally involving supporters of Nigeria Democratic Congress NDC presidential candidate Peter Obi and his running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, reportedly faced disruption in Warri, Delta State.

Esther Umoh, a photographer associated with Obi, raised the alarm in a post on X. She alleged that politically sponsored attackers targeted members of the campaign team.

According to Umoh, the attackers targeted members of the Delta State governorship candidate’s entourage. They also allegedly attacked other supporters of the Obidient and Kwankwasiya movements.

She further claimed that the attackers opened fire while the group campaigned in Warri.

Meanwhile, a video shared alongside the allegation showed a tense scene. In the footage, a voice accused suspected thugs of attacking the campaigners and urged supporters to confront them.

However, the information provided did not independently establish the circumstances surrounding the reported incident.

The allegation comes as political groups intensify their mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Meanwhile, Obi and Kwankwaso are campaigning under the NDC platform, alongside supporters from the wider Obidient and Kwankwasiya movements.

The two movements also recently formed a 59-member presidential campaign council. The council comprises coordinators and directors from across the country.
