At one of the biggest shows of 2020, the Ochacho Carnival in Otukpo, the heart of Idomaland, a rare act of benevolence was recorded. The three-day star-studded show, from December 24 to 26, featured rave of-the-moment musicians, including Davido, Teni, Zlatan, Prospa Ochimana, Solomon Lange, Sheyi

Law, Peruzzi, Magnito, Gandoki with Idoma-own Chris Morgan, Monica Ogah, Geoffrey Oji of Project Fame, MC Smart, Xbizzy and Owie Abutu, et al.

Surprisingly, the show was declared free for all and sundry and some of those who attended it also won cash prizes, IDOMA VOICE observed.

The highlight was the 13-year-old Raphael Michael who became a millionaire when the Billionaire singer, Teni, wowed by the teen’s dance steps, doled out to him a cash gift of N200, 000, which was instantly raised to a princely sum of one million naira plus a scholarship up to university education by King Mohammed Odeh Adah, the sole organiser of the Ochacho Carnival.

The benevolent gesture from King Moh, as he’s fondly called, CEO of Ochacho Real Homes and Ochacho Foundation, drew a resounding applause from revellers, some of who marvelled no end at such a rare display of a large heart.

But for most Idoma who heard about it later, that display of munificence didn’t take them by surprise, afterall, A dah is not nicknamed Ochacho—bamboo—for nothing; like the evergreen grassy plant, been a fountain of blessing to people from all walks of life, a benefactor for the needy and the less-privileged.

Idomaland is drenched in his altruism; like the rain that comes after a drought, he brings relief to communities with humanitarian actions that have far-reaching impacts on society.

In Otukpo, his hand is evident in such infrastructural development such as tarred roads and solar street lights.

Through his Ochacho Foundation, countless young Idoma are enjoying the benefit of scholarships while widows and the less privileged get monthly stipends.

Communities speak of how his humanitarian projects have helped to stem the tide of cultism and other related crimes. By coming through for able bodied youths, his empowerment schemes keep otherwise idle hands busy in legitimate and profitable ventures.

What is most impressive is that his charity has no bounds: during the Yuletide, food items worth millions of naira were distributed across Idoma communities and in recent time, Chief Obogo Alapa, the Uloja Och’Ekwu, a respected elder and monarch in Idoma community recently got a gift of a brand new range rover, as a mark of his respect for the traditional institution.

His benevolence extends to social media—Ochacho was recently spotted on Instagram giving out N10,000 to some of his followers for Christmas.

Celebrities too enjoy his largesse, like when he gifted Afropop musician Davido a Lexus SUV recently.

These and more, he has done without blowing his trumpet; but can such extraordinary  benevolence escape public attention? Not likely, rather, it would arouse people’s curiosity to know more about “this man with a big heart.”

Unravelling him isn’t altogether a difficult chore. Adah is a real estate mogul, the CEO of the property developing firm behind Ochacho Real Homes, one of the fastest growing estates in Idu, Abuja.

Knowing what he does provides further insights that make him a round personality.

His estates are described as smart homes, automated and powered by green, renewable energy that make the environment pollution-free.

That speaks volume about a man of ideas and innovation.

More importantly, kindness seems to be part of his DNA. He has always been a vocal advocate of affordable housing for all people.

Recently, he walked his talk by initiating a promo of price slash for homes in his estates at various locations in the federal capital city, Abuja.
