Ogbadibo Carnival a great project – Mohammed Itodo

An Ogbadibo-born Philantropist and Associate Professor with the Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Chief Dr. Sylvanus Mohammed Itodo has restated his commitment to promoting the cultural heritage of Idoma land.

Chief Itodo stated this in Abuja on Saturday during an interactive session with leadership of Idoma Movies Association of Nigeria (IMAN) in conjunction with the organisers of Ogbadibo Cultural Carnival.


According to him “the only lasting legacies the leaders of today could bequit to the incoming generation is the culture of Idoma people which is without blemish and uncompromising.

“Aside the culture of the people, I’m also committed to any social activity that will promote peace, unity and dignity of the Idoma people”.

He specifically acknowledged the efforts put in place by Johnson Manex Agada, Godwins Ochola and other Idoma youths in making sure the Idoma indigenous movies get national and international recognitions.

The Ojuwa K’Idoma promised to partner with Idoma stakeholders in moving the movie industry to enviable heights.
Chief Itodo who is a proud holder of the National Honour, ‘Member of the Order of Niger’ (MON) also used the forum to endorse the upcoming Ogbadibo Cultural Carnival coming up December 26th 2016.

The Akanaba of Ai-Oji who contested for House of Representatives twice under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) commended the efforts of Manex Johnson and other members of the organizing committee for the progress made so far in the countdown to the event.

“This is the first time youths of Ogbadibo would come up with a cultural carnival. It’s a welcome development and I’m looking forward for a day when the whole Idoma people, old and young would converge on Otukpo for a general Idoma carnival.

“That’s my dream. I support Ogbadibo carnival with the whole of my heart and I enjoin all Ogbadibo leaders to subscribe to the success of this great event”, Itodo added.

In their separate remarks, the President of Conference of Idoma Producers, Johnson Manex Agada and President of Idoma Movies Association of Nigeria, Godwins Ochola, lauded the many contributions of Chief Itodo which they enumerated to include, offer of scholarship to thousands of Ogbadibo students; construction of a gigantic Catholic out station in Agbaha Otukpa; construction of befitting Otukpa Traditional Council Chambers and Och’Otukpa Palace; construction of Primary Schools; disbursement of take off capital to women and aged for micro trade; among others.

They also appreciated the contributions of Chief Itodo to the development of Idoma Movies in recent times.
