Ogun court remands three over alleged theft of hotel POS

Three persons have been arraigned before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun State for allegedly stealing a Point of Sale (POS) machine, a bottle of whiskey, and other items valued at N168,500.

The defendants, Dominic Daniel, 22, Edet Israel, 21, and Audra Anthony, 25, were charged with two counts of conspiracy and stealing. They pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Police prosecutor, Inspector E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the suspects stole the items from a hotel owned by one Busola Onayemi, where they had lodged.

According to the prosecutor, the alleged offences contravene Sections 390 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun State, 2006.

Magistrate O.O. Fadairo granted each defendant bail in the sum of N30,000, with one surety each in like sum. The sureties must be residents of Ogun State, gainfully employed, and must present evidence of tax payment to the state government.

The case was adjourned until a later date in June for further hearing.
