Ogun govt condemns Portable’s attack on officials

The Ogun State Government has condemned the actions of hip-hop artiste Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, for allegedly obstructing and assaulting state officials at his bar in Iyana Ilogbo, Ota.

Portable, who is currently at large, reportedly attacked three officials of the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority (OGPDPA) – Ramon Lateef, Akinpelumi Oyero, and Abidemi Onabanjo – while they were carrying out their duties.

Nine of his associates – Oluwaseun Ayenuwa, 19; Precious Ohiegebo, 19; Oluwapelumi Adeosun, 20; Gospel Kanu, 20; Nurudeen Warris, 21; Adetola Alashe, 25; Fatimo Muhammed, 26; Ifeoluwa Babatunde, 27; and Samuel Adeleke, 28 – were arraigned before an Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court on Thursday. They face charges including armed violence, felony, obstruction, assault, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace. Bail was set at N5 million each.

Governor Dapo Abiodun, through his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, described Portable as a “serial dissident and unrepentant rascal” who has repeatedly assaulted government officials without provocation.

Akinmade stated that Portable’s actions were “shameful and intolerable” and that the government would ensure he faces the full weight of the law.

“The attack on OGPDPA officials was disgraceful and a violation of public order,” the statement read. “Governor Abiodun is committed to upholding law and order and will not tolerate anyone, regardless of status, flouting the law.”

The Ogun government reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating illegal activities and maintaining public order across the state.
