Ojotu: Benue youth Summit steering committee endorses youth commissioner
Benue Youth Summit Steering Committee today, endorsed the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Benue State, Comr Ojotu Ojema, saying his emergence came out of their demands in the proposal presented to the governor, Samuel Ortom during the last year summit emanating from the #EndSARS protests by the youths, adding that Ortom as a listening governor was the first to have organised youth summit in Nigeria.
The leader of the delegation and the State Steering Committee Chairman, #BenueYouthSummit2020, Pastor Dave Ogbole who made the declaration today at the Conference Hall of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, stated that the appointment of Comr Ojema was one of the best things that has happened to Benue youths in recent time, adding that they would put all their arsenals together to enable him succeed in his responsibilities. According him, Comr Ojema had tremendous successes in the past and would not hesitate to repeat such feats in his new ministry.
Earlier in his speech, the Youth Commissioner, Comr Ojotu Ojema Ojotu who was overwhelmed by the show of love demonstrated by the youths in the state expressed gratitude to God for His grace upon his life and Gov Samuel Ortom for finding him worthy to serve in this capacity, saying with the calibre of youths he has seen today, he is rest assured that his job would be made easier. He promised to carry the youths along, assuring them that what rightly belong to them would be given to them. “Youths are the leaders of tomorrow, Governor Ortom has given you the platform to succeed, it is left for you to succeed or fail”, he reemphasized.
Speaking on behalf of the staff of the ministry, the Director of Youth and Sports, Mr Omanga Michael appreciated Gov Ortom for appointing many youths in administration, saying with them, the ministry would achieve what it couldn’t achieve in the past.
In his vote of thanks, the Director, Administration and supply and the Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr Isah Stephen said from their interactions with the New commissioner during briefings, they discovered the commissioner was down to earth and they are willing to give him full support to succeed.
