Okpotuche Club, Abounu, Young Alhaji, others bid Amali Adoya Amali farewell

It was a solemn moment filled with tears and heartfelt tributes as the remains of the immediate past president of the Idoma apex socio-cultural group, Ochetoha K’Idoma, Barrister Amali Adoya Amali, were laid to rest on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at his country home in Otukpo, Benue State.

IDOMA VOICE reports that Amali, who also served as the president of the Okpotuche Club Lagos, passed away on January 6, 2025, at the age of 66.

Until his death, Amali was a distinguished leader and a respected figure within the Idoma community.

His funeral attracted people from all walks of life, including members of the Okpotuche Club, who came in large numbers to bid him a final farewell.

For the club members, Amali’s death is not just a loss but a profound vacuum, especially as it comes barely a year after they mourned the passing of another former president, Jimmy Adams Igbongi.

For a man who deeply adored tradition, several dance troupes and masquerade were on the ground to entertain guests at the event and to add a cultural touch to the solemn occasion.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Innocent Omudu, the Vice Chairman of the Okpotuche Club, described the late Amali as a “jolly good fellow” and a strong pillar of the club.

Among the prominent dignitaries who paid their last respects to the revered traditional leader were the immediate past Deputy Governor of Benue State, Engr. Benson Abounu; renowned philanthropist, politician Usman Abubakar, popularly known as Young Alhaji, chairman of Otukpo LGA, Prince Maxwell Ogiri, AVM Adokwu, among others.
