Nottingham Forest defender, Ola Aina will be absent from the Super Eagles’ forthcoming friendlies against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique.
The Super Eagles are set to face Saudi Arabia at Estadio Muncipal de Portimao on October 13, followed by a friendly against Mozambique at the same venue three days later.
Aina was included in the 25-man roster revealed by Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro on October 2 for the warm-up matches. The players are expected to gather in Portimao, Portugal, on October 10.
As reported by nottinghamforest.news, the 26-year-old is sidelined due to injury. The former Chelsea player was unable to participate in the Tricky Trees’ 1-1 draw against Brentford on Sunday due to an injury. Aina’s last match was against Manchester City on September 23, a game in which his side suffered a 2-0 defeat.
Aina, who was named Nottingham Forest Player of the Month for September, has made five appearances in the Premier League this season. He has represented the Super Eagles of Nigeria in 30 matches.
The Super Eagles plan to utilize these friendlies to refine their strategies ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixtures against Lesotho and Zimbabwe, scheduled for November 13 and November 17, respectively.
