Olise dumps Chelsea, signs new four-year contract at Palace

Crystal Palace’s promising talent Michael Olise has put an end to the speculation surrounding his future, as he inked a fresh four-year contract, prolonging his tenure at Selhurst Park, as reported by talkSPORT.

Rumors had swirled around Olise’s potential move to Chelsea, with a potential price tag of £35 million hanging in the balance. However, the dynamics have shifted, casting uncertainty over the transfer, as Olise’s allegiance remains firmly with the Eagles.

Chairman Steve Parish took to social media to unveil the exciting news, heralding Olise’s decision to stay on as one of Crystal Palace’s prized assets. “I’m absolutely delighted to announce Olise has decided to commit his future to Crystal Palace football club and this afternoon signed a new four-year deal with the club,” Parish declared with exuberance.

The elation resonated through the Palace camp, as manager Roy Hodgson expressed his delight, emphasizing the pivotal role Olise’s choice played in shaping the team’s future. “It’s the best possible news we could have. The decision has been his [Olise’s]. I must congratulate Parish and [sporting director] Dougie Freedman on a fantastic job,” Hodgson acknowledged, lauding the club’s leadership for securing the young talent’s extension.

Despite nursing a hamstring injury, Olise showcased his prowess last season, tallying an impressive two goals and 11 assists for Crystal Palace, following his arrival from Reading in 2021.

While Manchester City had also exhibited an interest in the versatile winger, reports hinted at Olise’s preference for a move to Chelsea. However, this preference now appears to have hit a roadblock, as he renews his dedication to the Eagles, leaving his future with the Blues in doubt.
