The Nigeria Institution of Mechanical Engineers during it’s 32nd International Conference & Annual General Meeting (AGM) themed “Glory Land 2019” held in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State on October 10th, 2019 gave an award (NMechE/ innovator/ inventors/STEM AWARD) and a scholarship of N200,000 to young Oloche Paul, an inventor from Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.
The National Chairman of the Nigeria Institution of Mechanical Engineers,
Engr. Robinson Ejilah, during the event revealed how he came across the young inventor’s works after it was published on IDOMA VOICE newspaper.
The leadership of the institution further assigned Prof. Engr.
Adisa Bello to mentor Mr. Oloche as he will commence his tertiary education at the prestigious Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi State.
Oloche came into the limelight few years ago following an exclusive story by IDOMA VOICE’s Editor, Ben Idah, about Oloche’s talents.
The young man successfully fabricated a prototype of fighter jet he christened Oko-LX with the blades and engine working perfectly.
It was named in honour of the late Och’Idoma, Chief Ogiri Oko.
He also displayed another of his invention he named Otada Conqueror, a mini 4-wheel drive that looks exactly like a Toyota Hilux.
The invention was named after his village, Otada, Otukpo.Interestingly, the young man was able to generate power through a solar panel he invented.
He nicknamed it ‘Ewa’ Solar (which means People in Idoma language.)Below are some of his works.
