Attah MikeA Chief Magistrate in Ondo State, Olateju Odenusi-Fadeyi, has ordered the remand of a 15-year-old female student from Anglican Grammar School, Arigidi Akoko, for allegedly stabbing her 17-year-old classmate, Habib Salau, to death.
The magistrate directed that the student be held at the Ondo State Juvenile Home in Akure, pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP). Her plea was not taken during the hearing.
The student is facing charges of conspiracy and murder after reportedly stabbing Salau with a knife during a scuffle that took place after school hours. Prosecutor Josephine Awana explained that the incident occurred on October 3 at 3:30 p.m. in Imo, Arigidi Akoko, following an altercation between the two students. Awana alleged that the defendant, with another person still at large, conspired to commit the murder.
The prosecution stated that the defendant accused the deceased of confronting her on the way home, which escalated into a fight. She claimed that someone handed her a knife and instructed her to stab Salau in the neck.
The charges violate Sections 124 and 319(1) of the Ondo State Criminal Code Laws, 2006.
