The lawmaker representing Ilaje Constituency II in the Ondo State House of Assembly on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Hon. Favour Tomomewo has been expelled from the party.
Tomomewo who is the only female legislator in the State legislative arm was expelled from the party by the executives of her ward (Mahin ward IV), Ilaje Local Government Area of the state.
According to her expulsion letter, the lawmaker was accused of working against the party before and during the just concluded governorship election in the state.
The letter which was signed by the ward Chairman, Olamigoke Ajimuda and Secretary of the party, Omosule Taid specifically alleged that Tomomewo directly mobilized and worked for the Zenith Labour Party, ZLP which the party said was contrary to the provision of APC constitution which sponsored her to the parliament.
She was also accused of funding members of the ZLP before and during the governorship election as well as bearing insignia and logo of ZLP in the build-up to the poll.
Both the State Chairman of APC as well as the Chairman, National Caretaker Committee of the party were copied in the letter addressed to the Chairman of the party in Ilaje Local Government.
Recall that the leadership of the State House of Assembly had earlier suspended Favour Tomomewo and three others for their alleged refusal to sign the impeachment notice against the estranged Deputy Governor of the State, Agboola Ajayi who was the governorship candidate of ZLP at the poll.
Meanwhile, an Ondo State High Court had on August 28, set aside the suspension of four affected lawmakers as Justice Ademola Bola in her ruling said the speaker, Bamidele Oleyeloogun lacked the power to suspend any member of the Assembly.
