On Thursday morning at Ilorin’s bustling Oja Oba Market in Kwara State a bus from the Nigerian Correctional Service, transporting suspects to court, collided with pedestrians, resulting in one fatality and multiple injuries. Pandemonium erupted as people scrambled to safety.
Reports from the scene indicate that the Correctional Service bus was traveling at high speed against traffic, having departed from Okekura Correctional Service. Eyewitnesses recounted how the driver lost control of the bus, leading to a horrifying collision with pedestrians, including motorbike riders, street vendors, and passersby.
Regrettably, one individual lost their life instantly, while two others, who remain unidentified, sustained critical injuries and were promptly transported to the hospital.
Ajayi Okasanmi, the spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command, confirmed the incident, assuring that investigations are underway, and further details will be provided upon completion.
