Tragedy struck EdikwuG’icho in Apa LGA of Benue State on Wednesday evening as suspected armed herdsmen launched a brazen attack, leaving one person dead and several others missing.
According to Hon. Gowon Atungwu, an indigene of the community, “The attackers invaded our village this evening at about 6 pm, shooting sporadically. Our youths rose up to the occasion by swiftly confronting and repelling them. While they were running back to the bush, they met one of our boys, Oyigocho Onehi, and hacked him to death. Some of our people who went to farm are still missing.”
Another community member, Mr. Ajene Adole, corroborated the story, praising the bravery of their youths who prevented a worse outcome. “Many would have been killed if not for the display of rare gallantry by our youths,” he said, decrying the relentless attacks on their communit
