bOne killed, eight injured in Lagos third mainland bridge fatal crash

A road accident on Lagos’s Third Mainland Bridge has resulted in the death of one person and left eight others injured.

The accident occurred near the Ilaje area, involving two Mazda commercial buses with the registration numbers LND 624 YE and EKY 804 YH.

It was gathered that reckless driving was a factor,, as both buses were speeding from the Adeniji Adele direction towards Iyana-Oworonshoki before the crash happened.

Emergency responders from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) arrived at the scene swiftly and rescued the eight injured passengers, who had sustained severe fractures.

The victims were promptly transported to Gbagada General Hospital by the Lagos State Ambulance Services (LASAMBUS) for immediate medical treatment.

Police officers from the Bariga and Alonge stations were on hand to secure the area and assist with rescue efforts.

LASTMA commiserated with the family of the deceased, restating its commitment to road safety and urged drivers to adhere to speed limits and drive cautiously to prevent such tragedies.
