There seems to be no hidden place for the notorious armed bandits terrorising the Northern states anymore, as the recent successive successes being recorded by the Nigerian troops have proved that the country may soon begin to experience relative peace.
In a like manner, the troops of the operation “Whirl Stroke”, has reportedly eliminated several armed bandits and recovered arms and ammunition in an aggressive operation against the armed bandits in Venue and Nasarawa states.
Moreover, according Major General John Eneche, the Media Coordinator of the Nigerian Army in a statement on Monday, 4 of the armed bandits were also reportedly arrested during two daring raids at identified bandits’ camps.
Revealing the details of the operation, Eneche said the operation was carried out on Sunday at Guma in Benue State and Keana in Nasarawa State, where a dawn raid was conducted at identified armed bandits’ camp at Guma forest along the Benue-Nasarawa border, following actionable intelligence reports on the location of the camp.
Similarly, troops also conducted another dawn raid on another suspected armed bandits’ hideout at Tse Agi in the general area of Benue state.
The hideout was subsequently destroyed while the suspects are currently being profiled after which they will be handed over to the appropriate prosecuting agency for further action.
In total, the troops recovered 2 AK-47 rifle, 3 AK-47 rifle magazine, one locally made pistol, 46 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition 3 mobile phones at the scene while the camp was subsequently destroyed.
Consequently, in view of the success being recorded by the Nigerian troops of recent, do you think Nigeria can possibly overcome insurgency and banditry very soon ?
